The long drive to the other island is over. We have seen all there is to see, or at least all we want to see for a long, long time, in this wide world and come home to our farm. We have seen an outdoor bread oven. It can bake 12 loaves at a time and is on a farm on Whidbey Island, across the waters of Puget Sound. It was very, very cool. Or hot, as the case may be.
Now to summon up the resources, both personal and financial, to build one of our own. Stay tuned. We think we have the siting figured out, the change in lifestyle that may require, and only need to check our reserves of determination to make sure the long haul from framing and pouring a foundation through leveling the floor of the oven and counting the right number of bricks for the curve of the inside of the oven proper on to layers of cement slapped on the outside, to make sure the stamina is inside our hearts. Stay tuned.
For now, it is time to consider carefully the costs, all the costs, and then to perhaps leap in faith into yet one more adventure in living. It may be the time to be brave once more.
